Following the trend started by King's quest, Sierra released nearly half a dozen highly successful adventure games featuring the same engine and similar parsers, and all became independent series with millions of fans. One of the later series was born in 1990, and was named Quest for glory.

The premise: you, nothing but a simpleton in some medieval fantasy world, decided to become a hero -- since hero seems to be as good as any other job around. What you didn't know was that a lot stands in your path to become a hero, so it won't be easy.

Mind you, Quest for glory is actually an adventure/RPG hybrid. It brings the classic adventure gameplay Sierra made so popular, but blends in fantasy-inspired character classes, attributes, spells, combats, etc. That's right, I said combats. Some adventure fans might be scared away, but then again RPG fans will love it. Graphics are lovely for its time, in a mix of funny/silly characters and colorful fantasy scenery. It's a bit of everything! Music and sound effects are also nice.

The first game in the series is acclaimed as a fun but easy game -- still one that deserves to be completed. Perfect for a rainy afternoon!
